Way behind

Posted on

Ok, so I’m a little behind. Having a baby will do that. Ian Christopher was born Feb 24. He is growing so fast. He’s almost (if not already) 11 lbs. We’re still working on the sleep thing. He’s pretty good at night, just waking up to eat, but during the day he catnaps. He also started smiling the other day. It makes it worth it to see him look at you and smile. He looks so much like Allison, too. Here is a picture of her at about the same age in the same position:

Flower Hair Clip

Posted on

I’ve been so restless lately so I’ve been trying to focus on a few unfinished projects I have laying around. I’ve been meaning to make more hair clips for A so I used up some scrap fabric and made matching flowers for me and her. I used this pattern and instructions found at this blog Wise Craft. I sewed the flower onto a snap clip and tada, instant hair clip.

YW New “Bee”ginnings

***UPDATE***
You can find a full tutorial for the book holder on the left hand side near the top of my blog under Tutorials or by clicking here.

Here is what we are giving to the girls for our New Beginnings. They are book holders designed to hold the FTSOY book, PP book, PP journal and a pen. I got the idea from another poster on SugarDoodle. The theme is “Bee” thou an Example (like a lot of other people) mainly because I had so much yardage of the bee fabric. Here is a quick little tutorial I wrote up for how to make the book holders. It’s kind of messy but if you want to make some and have any questions, just email me. They are really easy and cute. I got 15 holders out of 2 1/2 yards each of the lining and main fabric (5yds total).
As for the pockets, it says sew from bottom of pocket up, but I think it is easier to sew from top of pocket down after making so many of them.

Family pictures

We recently had a friend, Sarah, take some family pictures for us (check out her blog listed on the sidebar). We got some really good shots that I’ve already had printed and framed. She will also be taking pictures of the as yet unnamed baby due in two weeks.

A new obsession

Ok, so for a couple years I’ve bought some scrapbook stuff here and there thinking that someday I might actually be creative enough to use it. But that’s not gonna happen so instead I’ve gotten hooked on the whole digital scrapbook thing. Since all the pictures are digital anyway, why bother getting them printed out to cut up and glue onto paper when you can use a photo program to layer all the things, then print the whole thing. I can see a new obsession starting here. Here is one of my pages so far using a template from http://www.freedigitalscrapbooking.com/digital_scrapbooking_howto.html

and papers from

How cool is that? Now I just need to get caught u p with the daughter’s newborn pics before the new baby comes.

Mixed Signals

Allison loves to wear the witch hat I made to go on my fabric jack-o-lanterns. This time she was wearing it with her ballerina tutu. A witch, or a good girl… hmmm

We also went to the pumpkin patch last week. We played with some toys and went on the little tractor/train. We had a lot of fun, but it was really dry and windy.
