I learned to sew at the age of 9 by making simple skirts and doll clothing. My mom sewed at least half of my wardrobe growing up because, back then, it was cheaper. My mom also lovingly crafted homemade versions of popular toys such as Cabbage Patch Kids and Pound Puppies for Christmas and birthdays. I picked up sewing again when I purchased my first sewing machine after getting married. As a mom of three, I enjoy sewing as a means for preserving my sanity. My favorite things to sew are girly dresses with lots of ruffles as well as bags and accessories. I love to use and (hoard) the beautiful fabrics and prints that are available today. And, I am slowly figuring out how to sew clothing for myself that actually fits. I love teaching others to sew and seeing the satisfaction that comes from the creative process.
